September 2017 Human Resources Updates

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Human Resources is pleased to provide information about upcoming health and wellness opportunities available during Loyola’s annual Open Enrollment period. In addition, learn more about the availability of free flu shots as well as benefit information sessions and fairs in October at the Lake Shore, Water Tower, and Health Sciences campuses.

Open Enrollment 2018
Open Enrollment, November 1–22, is your annual opportunity to review, change, and enroll you and your family in Loyola’s benefit options. Detailed information summarizing benefit plan changes and other helpful items are available on the Open Enrollment 2018website.

Health Days Benefit Fairs
Have your health and wellness questions answered by experts and meet with representatives from benefit providers and on-campus groups at the annual Health Days Benefit Fairs. The fairs include free flu shots (read more below), biometric screenings, and vendor displays and activities and will take place throughout October. Mark your calendars with the times and locations listed on the Open Enrollment webpage.

Free Flu Shots
On various days in September, October, and November, medical professionals will be administering flu shots at the Lake Shore and Water Tower campuses. See the Wellness Screening Guide for the walk-in dates and locations. Please note that flu shots are required at the Health Sciences Campus and details about on-campus vaccinations are forthcoming.

Reducing Your Health Insurance Premium
Faculty and staff who enroll in one of the University’s medical insurance plans will be eligible to receive a $50 reduction every month—an annual savings of $600 for the 2018 plan year. New this year, employees AND covered spouses or legally domiciled adults (LDA) will be required to participate in the wellness screening and complete the Health Power Assessment in order to receive the reduction. You and your covered spouse/LDA must complete the biometric screening by November 22, 2017, which includes:

  • Lipid/chemistry profile blood draw
  • Blood pressure screening
  • Health Power Assessment, a confidential lifestyle questionnaire

Employees and covered spouses/LDAs will have the option to have their biometric screenings completed in one of three ways: through an on-campus or off-site screening or the submission of biometric screening results taken in 2017 by your own doctor or a certified facility. To schedule a screening appointment on campus or off site or to submit results from earlier this year, please visit the Biometric Screening and Health Power Assessment website.

Benefit Review
Human Resources encourages you to take time to review your current benefit elections through Employee Self-Service (ESS). In addition, it is also a good time to review and update beneficiary and dependent information within ESS. Learn more about accessing ESS—both on and off campus—and navigating your account.

Sacred Heart Schools
Faculty and staff are invited to check out Sacred Heart Schools, Chicago’s oldest Catholic and independent school. Serving students in grades K–8, Sacred Heart is conveniently located near Loyola’s Lake Shore Campus at 6250 N. Sheridan Road. To learn more about Sacred Heart and meet representatives, we invite you to attend an Admissions Coffee event at the school from 9:15–11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 4. If you are interested in attending, please contact James Nuessen, admissions associate for recruitment at Sacred Heart, for additional information.

If you have questions regarding any of these updates, please visit LUC.edu/hr

Sincerely,
