October 2018 Human Resources Updates

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Human Resources is pleased to provide updates and announce new programs and services for our Loyola community. Please review the information below to learn more about Loyola's annual required harassment prevention training initiative; information about changes to the Paid Time-Off benefit for staff; and important health plan information to consider as we enter the 2019 Open Enrollment season.

Service Awards
Congratulations and thank you to the approximately 500 faculty and staff members who are celebrating service anniversaries in 2018. During October, honorees will receive packets at home from our service award vendor, Royal Recognition, acknowledging their respective years of service. Divisions, schools, and departments are asked to facilitate an activity within their respective units to celebrate, recognize, and demonstrate our appreciation for the dedicated service these faculty and staff members have provided. Business unit managers will receive listings of our 2018 service awardees during the first week of October.

Harassment Prevention Compliance Training
The University's harassment prevention training opened on September 17 for faculty members and will be available for completion through October 12. Staff members participated in the training in August. As a friendly reminder, all faculty and staff are required to complete this compliance training, which is central to our efforts to ensure that faculty and staff have the opportunity to work in a safe, respectful, and inclusive campus community.

Changes to Staff Paid Time-Off
Modifications are being made to the Paid Time-Off (PTO) program for staff, including the introduction of paid Staff Parental Leave and a revision of the current Vacation Accrual Carryover Policy. Changes within the Paid Time-Off policy will ensure that Loyola's total rewards program remains competitive with benefit programs offered at other universities. To learn more about these changes, attend one of six information sessions scheduled in October, and take time to review the Changes to Staff Paid Time Off newsletter for a complete overview of changes.

Open Enrollment 2019—New PPO 3 HSA Medical Plan
Open Enrollment 2019 is November 1–21. Beginning January 1, 2019, benefits-eligible faculty and staff will have the option to enroll in a new PPO 3 Health Savings Account (HSA) health care plan, and to begin making pretax payroll deductions into their HSA. Plan participants can choose to withdraw funds from their HSA to pay for health care expenses incurred in 2019 or can save their funds to help pay for future medical expenses. Learn more about this plan at one of the six information sessions hosted by Human Resources throughout October.

Free Flu Shots
On various days in September, October, and November, medical professionals will be administering flu shots at the Lake Shore and Water Tower campuses. Flu shot dates are available online. Please note that flu shots are required at the Health Sciences Campus, and details about on-campus vaccinations can be found here.
