February 2017 Human Resources Updates

February 28, 2017

Dear Faculty and Staff,

We are pleased to provide information about current and future programs, services, and events for our community, including the Go Move Challenge and the Form 1095-C document.

Go Move Challenge Update
We are currently in sixth place among the participating Jesuit universities in this year's Go Move Challenge. Today is the final day of the challenge, so don’t forget to log your minutes of movement by 11:59 p.m. CST. There is also still time to register; all minutes can be added at GoMoveChallenge.org. Let’s keep moving!

Form 1095-C Document Distributed
The 2016 tax year Form 1095-C document was mailed February 17 and made available through Employee Self-Service on February 20 to faculty and staff members who opted to receive the document electronically. For this tax filing season, you will not need to send the IRS proof of your health coverage; however, employees should keep the document with other tax records.

Wellness Program Opportunity
March 1-31, Loyola Advantage BCBS PPO members can join the Fitness Program without paying an enrollment fee or signing a long-term contract. Program members can access more than 9,500 different fitness facilities. To enroll, log in to Blue Access for Members at bcbsil.com. Remember to enter the code ENROLL4FREE in order to join for free before March 31.

Don’t forget the Wellness Program features numerous financial, health, and wellness opportunities on campus. Benefits-eligible faculty and staff who earn 100 points per quarter will receive $75 on their paychecks following each quarter.

EMERGE - Professional and Personal Development
There are several upcoming personal, professional, and wellness seminars through our EMERGE program. Pay Yourself First is a new offering and hosted by PNC Bank. The program will outline effective savings practices and get participants on track toward their financial goals. Attendees can also log their participation toward their wellness incentive.

Other upcoming courses include:

  • Project Management
  • Appreciating Diversity
  • Conflict Management
  • Preventing Harassment
  • Personal Productivity

Visit LUC.edu/emerge for course times, locations, and details.

Sick Leave Policy Update
The Illinois Employee Sick Leave Act took effect on January 1, allowing employees to use up to half of their available annual sick-time accrual for the illness, injury, or medical appointments of specified family members. The full University Sick-Leave Policy can be found here.

If you have any questions regarding any of these updates, please visit LUC.edu/hr.
