What are some of your interests and involvement outside the Gannon Scholars program?

I'm very passionate about serving underprivileged and vulnerable populations in Chicago such as those experiencing homelessness, foster care youth, and acutely high-risk youth exposed to gun violence. In addition to this, I'm a Writing Tutor at the Writing Center, a Labre Leader with Labre Homeless Ministry, and a College Coach with Student Transitions and Outreach.

How have you benefited from the Gannon Scholars program?

Through the Gannon Scholars program, I was able to hold a paid internship during my spring semester of freshman year with Get IN Chicago, an organization affiliated with the Chicago Community Trust that's dedicated to studying and funding anti-violence initiatives focused on acutely high-risk youth, those who are at heightened risk for becoming victims or perpetrators of violence. With Gannon, I've had numerous opportunities to get a head start on my professional development that I wouldn't have otherwise, which is paving my way for a successful future.
