What are some of your passions outside of the Gannon Scholars? One of my main passions is helping those in need, specifically at-risk youth in Chicago. Growing up so close to the Chicago area has increased my interest in looking into the history of segregation in the city and how it has had devastating effects on Chicago's youth.

What are you interested in researching? I'm interested in researching the school-to-prison pipeline and its effects on the Chicago Public School system.

Why are you interested in this topic? When I first learned about the school-to-prison pipeline, I was extremely disheartened to hear about the mass amounts of children being denied a safe and stress-free learning environment. Since going to college, I've realized how lucky I am to have so many educational opportunities without facing systematic barriers that hold me back. This has made me passionate about helping everyone have the opportunity to education without facing barriers that funnel them out of the classroom and into the prison system.
