Charles Tocci
Charles Tocci is the assistant professor of social studies education at Loyola University Chicago. He started his career in education as a social studies teacher at South Shore Community Academy, part of Chicago Public Schools. Charles then attended Teachers College, Columbia University to complete a doctorate in Curriculum & Teaching while also working as a senior research associate at the National Center for Restructuring Education, Schools, and Teaching. He returned to Chicago to teach at National Louis University, and in 2012, moved to Loyola to coordinate the university’s pioneering partnership with Senn High School. Charles’ research has examined the grading and assessing student learning as well as how social studies is taught in high schools. His scholarly work has appeared in Research Reviews in Education and Educational Philosophy and Theory. He has also written for public audiences in Catalyst Chicago.
