Ignatian Pedagogy Faculty Scholar

In this role, the IP Faculty Scholar will contribute to FCIP programming around IP, including doing research on Ignatian approaches to teaching and learning. The main role of the scholar will be to facilitate the 22-23 IP Certificate Program.

An ideal candidate is someone with a deep interest in and commitment to IP and its practical application in the classroom, strong organizational and time management skills, and time to devote roughly 3 hours a week to the Program from late September 2022 to early May 2023.

Any full-time or part-time faculty members with IP experience are encouraged to apply. Most of the work can be done remotely. The position stipend is $3000 for the academic year, to be paid in two $1500 increments, at the end of each semester. Interested candidates should send a 500-word rationale for why they would be a good fit for the position, along with a current CV.

An FCIP staff member will meet with the IP Scholar regularly to help them map out the timing and scope of the work.

  • Secure and prepare speakers for six (6) IP Seminars throughout the academic year
  • Be present at each seminar, introducing speakers and facilitating the Q&A
  • Facilitate discussion during reflection gatherings for the Certificate participants
  • Review and comment on Certificate participants’ final projects in Sakai
  • Continue the work of the Summer 2022 IP Scholar by reviewing their work and exploring ways to systematically share IP work at FCIP and LUC
  • Identify and annotate relevant IP multimedia resources
  • Excellent communication, presentation and group facilitation skills 
  • Knowledge of basic IP history, strategies and tactics  
  • Interest or current scholarship in IP, or in FCIP’s other main pedagogical approaches: anti-oppressive pedagogies and student-centered design
