Remarks by Gordon Ramsey, Faculty Council Chair, Concerning 2014 Award Winner

Nenad Jukić - Faculty Member of the Year Award (2014

It is once again my privilege to present the Faculty Member of the Year Award.

Faculty members are nominated by you, the faculty, from all of Loyola’s schools and colleges. An awards committee of Faculty Council selects finalists and the final selection is approved by the entire elected membership of your Faculty Council.

This year, I am pleased to announce that the committee unanimously recommended that Professor Nenad Jukić, Director of Certificate Program in Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, in the Quinlan School of Business, be honored as the 2014 Faculty Member of the Year. Nenad received his Ph.D. from the University of Alabama and came to Loyola Shortly thereafter. He has excelled in all areas of teaching, research and service, true to the Jesuit Tradition.

Professor Jukić is a highly dedicated teacher. He teaches courses at all levels at Loyola and has mentored many students. His course evaluations are very high, as he engages his students and makes them think critically about the field and about themselves. Professor Jukić also created the certificate program, which he now directs. For his efforts, he has been awarded the Graduate Programs Faculty Member of the Year, from the Quinlan School of Business.

Since joining Loyola, Professor Jukić’s impressive research has resulted in numerous journal articles, books, book chapters, proceedings and invited lectures. He is involved in various related research activities in Data Mining and Warehousing for information in business and commerce. Nenad has mentored several students in research, obtained grants and helped to create an international Web site dedicated to teaching students in this important area of research.

Professor Jukić has served on numerous committees, both inside and outside of the university. He has served on advisory boards and editorial boards, advised student activities and served as coordinator for the Oracle Academy program for student training.

He is a faculty member who deserves to be recognized for his outstanding achievements in teaching, scholarship and service, in the Jesuit tradition. On behalf of Faculty Council and all of his colleagues, it is my pleasure to publicly recognize Professor Nenad Jukić as Loyola’s 2014 faculty member of the year, which includes this beautiful plaque and, perhaps even more importantly, a check for $2,000.

Could you please join me in congratulating Nenad Jukić?
