Michael Slager

Lecturer


Michael Slager earned a PhD at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he also received an MA and BA. In addition to primary concentrations in Russian and Central European literature, his graduate work included second language acquisition, translation studies, and linguistics.

Michael has been an instructor for an array of courses in the English Language Learning Program (ELLP), including Beginning and Intermediate Writing, Advanced Reading, and all levels of Listening and Speaking. He currently teaches English 100 (Developmental Writing), UCWR 110, and provides support to international students at Loyola’s Writing Center.

He often writes on social justice issues and is currently working on a translation of Ivan Krylov’s Kaib, An Oriental Tale.
