About

Dr. Maryam Amouamouha is a Clinical Assistant Professor in Engineering with a specialization in the field of environmental engineering. She was a postdoctoral scholar at Northwestern University, where she worked on a project aimed at creating a user-friendly geospatial database of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including their deployed technologies and energy/carbon intensity. Maryam received her Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Engineering from South Dakota School of Mines & Technology in 2022 and holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Shahid Beheshti University, earned in 2018.

As an entrepreneur, Maryam is the co-owner of AMBER Aqua LLC and has won several business plan competitions, including the SD Governor's Giant Vision. Her research interests are focused on water and wastewater treatment, process design and optimization, membrane separation technologies, systems analysis with an emphasis on sustainability, and GHG inventory and emissions.
