Chor Ng, MEd, 1998 – Curriculum and Instruction

Mr. Chor Ng is this year’s recipient of the Teaching and Learning Distinguished Alumni Award. Chor has strong ties to Loyola; he received his M.Ed in Elementary Education, in 1998, and returned to obtain his Type 75, and to pursue his ESL endorsement.

Chor has a deep and long running commitment to urban education and to social justice. He is currently a middle school teacher at Burr Elementary School in CPS and was a founding member of Uplift Community High School.

In his work at Uplift, a school dedicated to the core values that reflect the ideals of the distinguished alumni award, Chor became a valuable member of the administrative team advancing the school’s mission and vision to develop students academically and socially.  He worked with the community to make a difference in the school and beyond through an annual social justice fair where students present projects on how they will make an impact on their neighborhoods and city. In every way, Mr. Chor Ng’s work exemplifies a dedication to urban education and social justice making him a fitting recipient of the Teaching and Learning Distinguished Alumni Award.
