Mary Satchwell, PhD 2013

Dr. Satchwell is a 2013 graduate of the PhD program in School Psychology. Currently, she is an early childhood diagnostic psychologist in Park Ridge—Nile Elementary District 64.

Dr. Satchwell joined District 64 in 2012, and since that time she has become an invaluable member of the school and community. According to her supervisor, Dr. Satchwell is well-respected among her colleagues because of her expertise in early childhood, her commitment to collaboration, and her high level of professionalism. In addition, Dr. Satchwell is also a leader at the District level where she serves on several committees and helps to implement several district-wide initiatives.

Dr. Satchwell has also taken her expertise, knowledge, and compassion beyond the walls of the school to the community at the local, state, and national levels. Specifically, Dr. Satchwell engages parents in the community, and as her supervisor explains, “…people invariably walk away…feeling heard, inspired, confident, and supported. Additionally, she is a member of a school board, volunteer for a teacher association, and active member of her church. Dr. Satchwell also contributes to the profession by participating in state-level conferences, the state association, teaching university courses, and mentoring students. Moreover, she is an appointed member of the Illinois Children’s Health Partnership where she collaborates with other service providers to advocate for mental health services for children across the state.

It is evident that Dr. Satchwell cares about the students and families she serves, her colleagues, her community and the profession.

Taken together, these achievements and contributes makes her an outstanding alumnus of the Loyola University Chicago School Psychology program.
