Laura Swanlund, PhD 2010

Dr. Swanlund is a 2010 graduate of the School Psychology PhD program and is currently the coordinator of school psychologists, response to intervention, and positive behavior intervention supports for Palatine Community Consolidated School District #15.

In the words of the district’s Assistant Superintendent of Student Services, Dr. Swanlund joined Palatine CCSD15 in 2007 and served for five years as a school psychologist at the elementary and junior high school level. Her leadership qualities quickly led to an administrative appointment as the District’s PBIS Coach and now as the district’s coordinator of psychology, RTI, and PBIS. Dr. Swanlund’s commitment to closing the achievement gap and determination in championing systemic changes have resulted in a comprehensive, multi-tiered system of supports at all schools in Palatine CCSD15. Through her work with administrators and school teams in examining and analyzing academic and behavioral data, leadership teams have revised classroom and school-wide practices through the lens of equitable outcomes for all students. In addition to these impressive professional achievements, our students have been quite fortunate to work with Dr. Swanlund, as she has taught over 15 graduate level courses at Loyola University Chicago in areas including Educational Leadership, School Psychology, Research Methodology, and Educational Psychology.

Taken together, these achievements have been outstanding, distinguishing Dr. Swanlund from other school psychologists.
