Distinguished Alumna Award

Crystal Pfeiffer, MA 2014

With the 2017 alumni award, the Cultural and Educational Policy Studies recognizes the accomplishments of Ms. Crystal Pfeiffer (CEPS MA, 2014).  Ms. Pfeiffer lives out the mission of our program, which is to prepare people to work across different aspects of the education sector in the analysis, research and improvement of education policy and practice.  CEPS emphasizes multidisciplinary approaches with an overarching emphasis on social justice, something that Ms. Pfeiffer exemplifies in her work in Chicago schools. As the director of a TRIO program at Northeastern University's Center for College Access and Success she puts into practice the SOE vision that our mission is social justice while our responsibility is social action through education. Through her longstanding involvement with the Louder Than a Bomb spoken word poetry project and her work at Chicago's Roosevelt High School, Senn High School, and Uplift High School Ms. Pfeiffer has made a notable difference in the educations and lives of numerous Chicago students.  She is an exemplary graduate of the CEPS program and the SOE and fully deserving of recognition as an outstanding alumna awardee.
