Kevin Gary, PhD 2005

Dr. Gary is a nationally recognized philosopher of education who studies liberal education with a deep interest in the contemplation of moral education.  His work generates rich and humane insights into the meaning and purpose of education.  Dr. Gary's recent study on work and leisure challenges educators to think deeply about the values we impart to our students.  Prior to joining Valparaiso University, Dr. Gary was a tenured faculty member at Goshen College where he taught education foundations, philosophy, and teacher preparation courses and also directed service-learning projects in Peru.  Dr. Gary is an exceptional scholar whom Loyola, with its Jesuit commitments; and the School of Education, with its dedication to social justice; and CEPS, with its appreciation of careful scholarship in the disciplines in the service of these ideals, are proud to claim as an alumnus.

Dr. Gary is now a tenured faculty member and chair of the Department of Education at Valparaiso University.
