Cindy Whittaker, EdD, 2001

Dr. Whittaker has had a measurable, positive impact on the field of education through her distinguished leadership as principal, director of curriculum, assistant superintendent and now as Superintendent of Fairview School District 72.  Cindy’s leadership is exemplified in the D72 District Vision whose purpose is to: create a strong foundation for academic excellence and personal growth by setting high expectations, teaching the needs of learners, and embracing the richness of cultural diversity.

Dr. Whittaker has been a leader on the statewide level through her work with the Illinois Association of School Administrators as the Executive Committee Secretary, Membership Chair and Board President.  In 2010 she was awarded the Excellence in Administration and Leadership Award from the Indian Community of Niles Township.

Dr. Whittaker has supported and continues to support Loyola University Chicago’s School of Education. She has served as an adjunct professor, her district was one of the first partners in our CPELL – Chicagoland Partners for English Language Learners program and is a member of our Superintendent Redesign Task Force. Cindy exemplifies how to live one’s life with purpose and balance.  As an educator and leader, she is the gold-standard of integrity and ethics ensuring that her school district and community are guided by principles of inclusiveness, transparency and decency.

Dr. Whittaker is currently the Superintendent of Fairview School District 72 in Skokie, Illinois.
