Admission Requirements
- A Completed Application Form. You may submit your application form online.
- Official Transcripts
Applicants must submit official transcripts for all undergraduate and any graduate work. To be eligible for admission, your transcript must show an earned bachelor's degree or a bachelor’s degree in progress. Certified copies of transcripts are acceptable; faxed copies of transcripts are not considered official. If you attended Loyola University Chicago previously, you do not need to request transcripts; we have them on record. Transcripts must show an undergraduate GPA of at least a 3.0.
In exceptional cases, applicants whose undergraduate GPA is below 3.0 may be admitted. Each program area gives meaningful consideration to the applicant's graduate GPA, recommendations, professional experience and reasons for pursuing a graduate program, as well as to the diversity of the student body. - Three Letters of Recommendation
Please submit three letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak to your academic, professional, and interpersonal abilities. Please do not submit more than 3 letters, as they will not be reviewed. We highly recommend that at least two letters be from a professor or other individual who can speak to your academic abilities. If you have not taken an undergraduate or graduate-level course in over 5 years, then an alternative recommender may be appropriate. - A Personal Statement
Please prepare a personal statement that is no more than 3 pages double spaced. The statement should answer the following questions:
-
What relevant experiences have you had that have informed your decision and prepared you to pursue a graduate degree in school psychology with an emphasis on social justice?
-
What specific areas are you interested in researching while completing your PhD in school psychology?
-
Why are you applying to Loyola and which faculty do you envision working with to support your goals?
-
What are your career goals following completion of your PhD?
-
