LAD Service Indicators (Holds)

AVOID A HOLD ON YOUR ACCOUNT:

Students living off-campus are required to list a local off-campus student address and emergency contact in LOCUS by September each year.

Students living within our residence halls are required to submit emergency contact information in their LOCUS account prior to move-in.

Students who fail to submit required data will receive a "Dean of Students Info Required" ("LAD") Hold that will block course registration
. This hold can be avoided and/or released by inputting the required information.

"Dean of Students Info Required" ("LAD") Hold

If you have a "Dean of Stdnts Info Required" ("LAD") hold on your LOCUS account, it means you have not provided the University with one or more of the following pieces of required information: (a) valid off-campus address, and/or (b) emergency contact information. This information is critical for student safety in the event that a student experiences an emergency requiring University assistance.

This information is required out of concern for student safety. The Office of the Dean of Students responds to reports of student concerns and crises. In the case of an emergency that takes place off-campus, it is essential to know where a student locally lives and whom to contact.

In the case of an emergency, it is important for the University to know how to contact you or your designated emergency contact. Regardless of how students take classes or where they take classes, if someone is enrolled at the University, then the Office of the Dean of Students is often the first point of contact for authorities or emergency response teams. To assist effectively in times of concern or emergency, it is important that the University has this information.

Verification of required data takes place each year. If you have not completed this process by September 6th, a LAD hold will be placed on your account to prevent registration for classes. To remove the hold, follow the steps listed below:

Residential Students:

  1. Login into LOCUS and provide your emergency contact (a prompt will appear once you login).
  2. Check the box to verify that your emergency contact is also your missing persons contact. Once this information is added once, emergency contact information can be confirmed each collection year by simply clicking the button that looks like this:

Non-Residential Students:

  1. Login into LOCUS and provide your current local address and emergency contact (a prompt will appear once you login).
  2. Check the box to verify that your emergency contact is also your missing persons contact. Once this information is added once, emergency contact information can be confirmed each collection year by simply clicking the button that looks like this:

If you have any questions, please contact the Office of the Dean of Students at 773.508.8840 or go to the Student Services Hub located in the Sullivan Center at Lake Shore Campus. For more information on the Hub, visit their website.

The best thing to do if you have a LAD hold on your account is to go to LOCUS and follow the two-step process described above. In special circumstances you can call the Office of the Dean of Students at 773.508.8840 for assistance.

LAD holds will be lifted within a 24-hour cycle, or 1 business day after you enter the necessary information into LOCUS.
