Services

Services Overview

The DOS ensures a timely and appropriate response in the face of various forms of crisis, trauma, or conflict experienced by students.

The DOS team is also available to students to review plans for student activism, demonstrations, and fixed exhibits. We are committed to working with students from a content- and viewpoint-neutral perspective, to assist students and student groups in ensuring a safe, effective, and successful event. For more information, see Freedom of Expression: Demonstrations and Fixed Exhibits.

SERVICES

CARE Hardship Fund

For students who experience unforeseen financial emergencies during the academic year. Requests for emergency CARE funds available through DOS are considered on a case-by-case basis.

Freedom of Expression

On November 12, 2015, over 700 Loyola students, staff, and faculty members participated in a demonstration on Loyola’s West Quad. As a Catholic, Jesuit institution devoted to social justice, this movement became a catalyst for change.

LAD Service Indicators (Holds)

If you have a "Dean of Students Info Required" ("LAD") hold on your LOCUS account, it means you have not provided the University with the required information. This information is critical for student safety in the event that a student experiences an emergency requiring University assistance.

Preferred Name Policy

When an individual’s legal name is required by law, policy, or business needs, current employees and current students may choose to be identified in some university systems by the preferred name that they have designated.

Careers in Student Affairs Month (CSAM)

Careers in Student Affairs (CSAM) is a month-long initiative, each October. CSAM is dedicated to the celebration of a career in student affairs, education and awareness in the profession, and engagement with professional associations.

LAD Service Indicators (Holds)

The mission of NASPA is to increase the number of historically disenfranchised and underrepresented professionals in student affairs and/or higher education, including but not limited to those of racial and ethnic-minority background; those having a disability; and those identifying as LGBTQ.
