Exporting Adobe Connect Resources

This page houses useful information as it relates to the sunsetting of the Adobe Connect System, to be replaced by Zoom for online meetings and webinar. For more information regarding these changes, visit Spring 2018 Technology Changes.

This page will serve as a guide on how to best assess all your Adobe Connect meeting rooms, recordings and uploaded content, and how to best export and retain your data and resources.

In order to review your resources within Adobe Connect, you must login to the system directly at connect.luc.edu (also known as Connect Central).

  1. After logging in, across the top grey set of tabs, click Meetings.
  2. The proceeding page will list all of your meeting rooms you have created and host. Click on the Name of one of your meetings to view more details about that meeting room.
  3. Each meeting room has a variety of options, along the row that starts with Meeting Information, click on the second to last item, Recordings. This will list all the recordings you have made from this particular meeting room.
  4. You may want to launch and briefly review the meeting recording before you determine to export it.
  5. For those recordings within this meeting room you wish to export, Click the Actions dropdown, then Select Make Offline.

    03 Meeting Recording Make Offline
  6. A new window will appear for the meeting recording, prompted by a dialog box. This first dialog box identifies best practices with preparing and exporting your video. Overall, it's best to ensure the window is maximized to take up the full screen. Click the maximize button on the window at the top-right corner, then click Next
  7. The dialog box now indicates recording settings. By default, it is set to mp4. This is recommended as Panopto and does not accept the FLV (Flash Video) format. The rest of the settings are optimal. If you wish to adjust it for higher quality, you may do so, though this can impact the time it takes to export and will result in a larger video file. Click Proceed with Offline Recording.

  8. The meeting will begin to play in real-time. If you have your speakers on, the audio will also play back, as you would expect.
  9. Once the meeting completes it's full playback, a final dialog box will appear indicating the Recording Summary, including recording output path, resolution and output file size.

You can repeat these steps for each Meeting Room you have with Meeting Recordings you wish to save.

Tips for Exporting your Meeting Room Recordings

These tips will help to ensure a smooth process with creating your offline meeting recording video files.

  • Maximize the window. Maximize your meeting recording playback window to be full-screen. That will best ensure the full resolution and all items are captured within the video file Adobe Connect will create.
  • Save locally. Save your file locally to your computer, we recommend your "My Documents", "My Videos" or "Downloads" folder locations. It's not advised to save to a shared/cloud storage solutions (OneDrive, Box, Google Drive, for example), as such online storage folders may try to simultaneously upload your files at the same time the files are being created, which may cause errors as the video file is being created.
  • Avoid intensive network or system activities during recording. You may continue doing other work on your computer while recording playback occurs - we recommend keeping this to tasks that are not processor or multimedia intensive, such as reviewing emails, browsing online, or updating documents. Avoid network or system intensive activities, such as installing software, downloading files, or watching other audio/video files online or on your computer as this could impact the quality of the meeting recording as it is working to export. After you hear audio begin to playback in the meeting recording, you can mute your computer speakers if you wish.
  • Disable screensavers. Disable any screensavers or monitor power saving settings before your begin exporting, to avoid your computer going into a power save mode before the meeting is done exporting.
