Major Auditions

Saturday February 4th, 2017

Thank you for your interest in the Dance program at Loyola University Chicago! The Loyola Dance program is distinguished within the Chicago community and on a national level through its commitment to rigorous study of classical dance techniques.  Application to the Dance major is a two-part process: an application for admission to the University and an application to audition for the major. All students seeking admission to the Dance major must audition in person. 

The main audition date for Fall 2017 Acceptance has passed.


Auditions for Fall 2018 Acceptance are Saturday, February 3, 2018.

FAQ about the Dance Major Audition

Yes, admission to the Bachelor of Arts in Dance is by audition only.

The Department of Fine and Performing Arts will provide you with a time for your solo presentation upon arrival to the audition date.

Please dress in form-fitting appropriate dance attire and ballet shoes.

You may want to bring snacks or a boxed lunch and a refillable water bottle. You do not need to bring a headshot or resume.

Your solo audition can be ballet, modern, jazz, or contemporary and may be your choreography or another’s. The piece should be a maximum of 2 minutes in length.
Please bring your music on a smartphone or ipod and we will provide speakers.

Yes, it is. We have had a number of students who were not initially accepted into the Dance major focus very intently on their improvement in Ballet for their freshman year, re-audition in the spring term and join the Dance major their sophomore year.

Yes, if that is the case we encourage you to participate in our very popular Dance minor.
