Candidates interested in delivering the student Commencement speech should apply by Monday, February 26, 2018. The student should be a part of the graduation ceremony on Thursday, May 18, and the speech should be three to five minutes in length (approximately 700–850 words).
Ideally the speech should reflect on the experiences of graduates at a Jesuit university. Interested candidates should file a letter of intent, along with a draft of their speech, to Dr. Susan Ries (undergraduates) or Katherine Acles (graduate students) in Schreiber Center, Suite 320. Please include a phone number and your LUC e-mail address where you may be contacted during the academic year.
The Commencement Committee will notify the selected student in early March.
The 2018 Commencement Celebration for the Quinlan School of Business will take place on Wednesday, May 9 from 5:30–8 p.m. at The John and Kathy Schreiber Center, 16 E. Pearson. The Commencement Celebration is open to all Quinlan students graduating in the 2017–2018 academic year. Students will be sent registration information for the Commencement Celebration in the spring term. RSVP required. If you have any questions, please e-mail quinlanevents@LUC.edu.
Because there is only one Commencement ceremony per year, Quinlan students are eligible to participate in the May 2018 Commencement ceremony if any of the following apply:

A student needing up to 12 hours to complete all requirements during summer 2018 (a student in this category must have the assistant dean confirm by April 1 that the student will complete all requirements during summer 2018)*
*Students finishing their studies in the summer may participate in the May 2018 ceremony, but their degrees will be formally conferred as of August 2018, after they have completed all degree requirements.
