Paul Fisher

Paul S. Fisher retired in 2013 as president and CEO of CenterPoint Properties Trust, the preeminent national developer, investor, and manager of supply-chain properties and related logistics infrastructure. He retired as vice chair of the board in 2018. Mr. Fisher was one of the founders of the company in 1993 when it was publically traded. He served as its chief financial officer until 2004, when he became president. CenterPoint was acquired by the nation’s largest pension fund in 2009, the California Public Employees’ Retirement System, and continues to operate as a private company. Mr. Fisher’s rise to leading CenterPoint came after practicing law and holding executive positions with real estate firms and investment banks in Chicago and New York.

Fisher has been an active participant in industry organizations. In 2014, he was appointed as one of the 45 members of the U.S. Department of Commerce International Trade Administration’s Advisory Committee on Supply Chain Competitiveness advising then Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker on creating a comprehensive national freight policy and infrastructure to support U.S. manufacturing and goods’ movement.

Fisher has received a number of honors, among them being named one of America’s Best CFOs in 2005 by Institutional Investor magazine. In 2011, Midwest Real Estate News named Mr. Fisher to its Hall of Fame. During Mr. Fisher’s tenure as president and CEO, CenterPoint received numerous awards, including 2011 Developer of the Year by NAIOP, the National Association of Industrial and Operating Properties, and the Intermodal Achievement Award by IANA, the Intermodal Association of America.

In addition, he was a member of the Freight Advisory Task Force and Regional Tax Policy Task Force for the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning from 2010 to 2014. He currently serves as Chair of the advisory board of the Baumhart Center for Social Responsibility and Accountability in the Quinlan School of Business at Loyola University Chicago. He has also served on Loyola University’s Supply and Value Chain Center. He was a member of the advisory councils of the Northwestern University Transportation Center and the Guthrie Center for Real Estate Research at the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern.

Today, in addition to his work with Baumhart Center, Mr. Fisher sits on the board of directors of CatchMark Timber Trust, where he chairs the company’s investment and finance committee. The company acquires and sustainably manages prime timberlands located in high-demand U.S. mill markets. He also helped found and serves on the board of Keep New Orleans Music Alive, an organization that provides emergency relief to native New Orleans musicians and culture-bearers.

Fisher graduated from the University of Notre Dame, summa cum laude, with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics in 1977 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received a Doctor of Law degree from the University of Chicago School of Law in 1980.
