Jaye Hobart is a first-year social work intern from the University of Chicago’s School of Social Service Administration. With a strong interest in social justice and civic engagement, Jaye hopes to help the Center in its mission by supporting the development and promotion of projects that advance and protect the rights of children.
Jaye earned her undergraduate degree from Luther College in 2011 with a concentration in women and gender studies and a minor in piano. After college, she joined AmeriCorps and worked for the American Civil Liberties Union of New Mexico’s Regional Center for Border Rights, advocating for civil and human rights along the U.S.-Mexico border. Before moving back to the Midwest, she served as a Field Organizer for one of New Mexico’s political parties leading up to the 2012 national election. Most recently, Jaye worked with other Chicagoland non-profits including Woods Fund of Chicago, Center for New Community, and The Civic Federation.
