Membership Information for Spring 2025 

Memberships for the spring '25 semester to the Halas Recreation Center are available for purchase starting January 10th, 2025. Payment may be made in person at our front desk or online (see instructions below) with credit/debit card only. A Payroll Deduction option is available to Loyola full-time faculty and staff as well.

  • Spring '25 Semester Memberships are valid from January 10th, 2025 - May 11th, 2025.
  • Annual Memberships are valid for one calendar year from date of purchase.
  • *Retirees please fill out this form here to begin the process of obtaining your Halas Recreation Center membership. Instructions on next steps are outlined in the form. 
  • Alumni memberships, family memberships and community memberships are not available for purchase. Halas has been running at full capacity, so we have made limits to ensure student space, we are sorry for the inconvenience. 

1-Day Passes are also available for eligible members of the Loyola Community for $17. 

Refund Policy: If you would like to cancel your membership, you may receive a prorated refund less a $30 Early Cancellation Fee

These fees are valid until June 30, 2025.  Membership dates are subject to change with the academic calendar.  All rights reserved by the Department of Campus Recreation.  Proof of eligibility is required for any membership.  If you are uncertain about which eligibility category applies to you, check the table below or you may email the Halas Recreation Center at campusrec@luc.edu.

Membership Eligibility  
Full-Time Enrolled Undergraduate Students Full-Time Enrolled Undergraduate Students, with 12 credit or more of hours, are automatically billed for semester membership through the mandatory Student Development Fee.
Part-Time Undergraduate Students Part-Time Undergraduate Students, with fewer than 12 credit hours, are eligible to purchase a membership (Part-Time Undergraduate Students are assessed a smaller Student Development Fee, but this fee does not include a membership to Halas). 
Graduate Students Graduate Students are eligible to purchase a membership (Graduate Students are not assessed a Student Development Fee, therefore they do not have a membership automatically).
Graduates of Winter 2024 Winter Class of 2024 will be eligible to purchase a spring '25 membership only. Eligibility will be confirmed through LOCUS before purchase. Membership purchase must be made in person at our front desk during business hours (M-F; 8:30am - 5pm).  
Faculty and Staff All current Loyola University Chicago Faculty and Staff are eligible to purchase a membership to Halas. A payroll deduction option is also available to full-time Loyola employees. 
Jesuit Community Members Clergy must be affiliated with Loyola University Chicago and verified through Loyola's Jesuit Community. 
Retirees of Loyola University Chicago  Retirees must be verified by our office first. Please fill out this form here to begin the process of obtaining your Halas membership. Instructions on next steps are outlined in the form. 

Below are instructions on how to purchase your Spring '25 membership online (except retirees and Winter 2024 Graduates- please see above instructions on how to receive your membership) starting January 10th, 2025:  

  • To purchase a membership, please log into our Member Portal with your LUC UVID at Loyola University Chicago Campus Recreation (luc.edu).
  • Scroll down and select the "Memberships" icon. From there you will be promoted to choose between either a Halas Recreation Center membership or a Water Tower Fitness Center membership. Please click on the Halas Membership option.
  • You will be promoted to choose between either a semesterly membership or a yearly membership. Please select the one of your choice and hit "add to cart" on the bottom right-hand corner.
  • You then will be directed to sign our facility waiver and agree to our refund policy. 
  • Once in the Shopping Cart view, please review your order carefully. When ready to pay, please click "check-out" at the bottom right-hand corner. 
  • You will be prompted to choose a payment option, please click on "add a new card." Fill in your billing address and credit card information and click "submit."
  • Congrats! You have successfully purchased a membership at Halas. You will receive a receipt shortly in your LUC email account. 

**Must have a valid and current LUC ID card for membership and entry into Halas**
