Religious Observances
As a Jesuit, Catholic university, Loyola University Chicago invites people of all faiths and traditions to be a part of our community and we are committed to supporting students to grow in their faith traditions.
The following list is assembled to assist faculty and students in their awareness of religious observances that can affect classroom participation:
Ramadan Accommodations
During the month of Ramadan (Feb. 28 – March 30, 2025), Muslim students may request:
· Breaks for Iftar (fast-breaking meals) and prayer, particularly in evening classes.
· Flexibility on exams or assignments around Eid al-Fitr (March 30 – April 1, 2025).
For more information, contact Loyola’s Muslim Chaplain, Omer Mozaffar at omozaffar@luc.edu.
Accommodations apply to all religious observances. If a holiday is not listed, faculty should still make reasonable adjustments.
