Angel Gutierrez

VP of Institutional Advancement, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago

Angel Gutierrez

Angel Gutierrez has served as the Vice-President of Institutional Advancement at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago for the last 32 months. During that time, he has led a tremendous philanthropic growth spurt that has raised a record $102 million dollars with his team for the organizations in major and legacy gifts, annual fund, virtual events, and corporate and foundation support over the past two and current fiscal years. As the Vice-President he has built out a donor-focused, versus event-focused, fundraising strategy, to better align the organization’s work with established best practices. He is responsible of raising $30 million dollars annually.

Angel has over 25 years of executive leadership, financial, operational, building teams and program development experience in small and large health and human service nonprofit agencies.

Prior to his current position, Angel served as the Vice President for Community Development and Outreach Services at Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago. He was responsible for administering an array of community health and family nutrition programs, youth development and employment training, and social enterprise initiatives and managing an operating budget of $65 million dollars.

Currently, Angel serves a Co-Chair of the Nuestro Futuro (Hispanic Heritage Fund) affinity fund at the Chicago Community Trust which has awarded $3.1 million in grant making dollars to more than 70 nonprofits throughout the Chicago region. Prior to that he has served or been appointed to a numerous of boards, commissions, federal and statewide committees and work groups in Colorado and Illinois that have focus on working on policy and funding on issues related to

public/private funding and partnerships, childhood hunger, and improved program access for low-income individuals and families.

A native Chicagoan, Angel was the 2013 Chicago Latino Professional of the Year by the Chicago Latino Network and received the 2013 Community Service Award from the Rauner YMCA for the work he does on behalf the community. He holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Roosevelt University, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Loyola University. Angel and his wife Cynthia reside in Garfield Ridge on the Southwest Side of the city with their two children Sophia Quinn and Ethan Angel.
