The Student Community Board was honored as a finalist for the Damen Student Organization Award for Sponsored Student Organization during the Weekend of Excellence. The Damen Award is named for Loyola University Chicago's founder, Arnold Damen, S.J. It seeks to honor student organizations that, throughout the year, have been a true source of inspiration and leadership to the Loyola community by committing themselves to Jesuit ideals. These organizations have fostered and encouraged individuals to lead with spirit, motivation and purpose. Congratulations SCB and thank you for your contributions to making Loyola a more just and caring community!
At the end of the Fall semester of the 2014-2015 school year, the Free Expression and Demonstration Policy and Approval Process was revised after an extensive dialogue between the Student Government of Loyola Chicago, Campus Activities Network, and the Office of the Dean of Students. The definition of "demonstration" was modified; the length of time required for organizations seeking to register a demonstration was shortened (from 10 business days to three business days) to make it easier for demonstrations to be registered in response to current events; and a clause was added excepting impromptu religious or prayer services from this policy under certain circumstances. To see the full revised policy, click "Read More" and review page 51 of the Community Standards.
