"Science is a way of thinking much more than it is a body of knowledge." -Carl Sagan

Our Mission

Scientific and mathematical literacy is essential to making decisions that foster a just society and a healthy planet. Teachers provide crucial opportunities for all students to attain such literacy. Through partnerships, programs, and research focusing on area schools, the Center for Science and Math Education (CSME) is dedicated to developing teachers’ understanding and implementation of high quality science and math instruction.
