Writing Center

At the Writing Center, our main goal is to help you become a better writer. We believe that all writers—of all levels of ability—can benefit from having an experienced writer respond to their work. Our tutors are available to help you at any point of the writing process—from brainstorming, to organizing, to putting the final touches on a bibliography.

Preparing for Your Session

Cancelling an Appointment

You can cancel an appointment 45 minutes in advance of its start time. Click on your appointment in the mywconline schedule; scroll to the bottom of the screen and click "CANCEL THIS APPOINTMENT."

Appointment Cancellation Policy: The Writing Center is a busy place, and sometimes students have difficulty finding an open appointment time. Because we want as many students as possible to have the opportunity to work with a tutor, we have recently configured the online scheduling so that appointments must be cancelled at least 45 minutes in advance. Please be considerate and make your appointment time available to others if you can’t be there. Thank you!

ESL/ELL Assistance for Writers

We understand that English is a second language for many of the writers who confer with us. If you feel that you need extra language assistance, choose a tutor who has some training in ESL/ELL teaching or who is fluent in a second language, as designated next to the tutor's name on the schedule. For example, if the tutor name on the schedule reads "John Doe, ESL," that tutor has some ESL training. If the name reads "Joan Smith, Spanish," that tutor is fluent in Spanish.
