Volunteer Opportunities

We all know how valuable museum volunteers and docents are as dedicated people making a commitment to provide the backbone of many museum services. LUMA wants you to be involved and offers two options for volunteering.

Docent Program
The docent program is staffed by committed volunteers who serve as LUMA’s ambassadors, educators, and interpreters. Their six-month training period consists of an intensive course on the permanent collection and touring techniques. Docent-in-Training classes are held annually beginning each September. After training is successfully completed, docents commit two days a month to LUMA: one for continuing education and one for tours.

Museum Positions
Do you have a flair for design and sales? Perhaps our museum shop is the spot for you. Love to get things organized? Then you’d enjoy working in our offices. Are you the “great communicator”? We need you at our front desk!

For information on becoming a docent or museum volunteer, please contact Ann Meehan at ameeha1@luc.edu or 312.915.7604.
