First Year Urban Immersion

This immersion is open to all First Year students. The goal of this weekend is to engage with different parts of Chicago through hands-on experiences. Participants will learn about some of the social issues in the city as well as listen to the hopes of people struggling to thrive in an urban environment. Participants will meet with organizations working to make a difference, have cross-cultural experiences, and lots of fun! Hosted jointly by the Career Development Center, the Center for Experiential Learning, and University Ministry, this fair will give Loyola students of all levels and majors an opportunity to explore a variety of opportunities both on and off campus. We anticipate hosting a variety of organizations from the non-profit sector (secular and religious), regional companies and Loyola departments for part time, internship, federal work study and volunteer opportunities.

Loyola AIDS Walk, a 5K Walk benefiting AIDS/Global Alliance for Africa, is sponsored by the Division of Student Affairs. Breakfast snacks will be provided before the walk begins, with a light lunch and entertainment following. Judging for a Group Costume Contest will take place at Halas Field immediately after the walk concludes. Loyola students can register for $15.
