Saturday Night of Comedy
8 p.m.  (doors will open at 7:30 pm – NO RE-ENTRY - ONLY OPEN TO LOYOLA STUDENTS with LOYOLA IDs)

Chicago is home to some amazing stand-up comedy venues and has served as the launching pad for many of today’s comedic legends. In keeping with the Loyola tradition this year’s Saturday Night of Comedy will feature two amazing comedic acts. Starting Aug. 17 @welcomeweek will release hits and clues ultimately revealing the identities of this year’s performers.  Be sure to get there early to get a seat. No admittance once comedians begin.

Meet in Simpson MPR

Here's your chance to connect with your classmates and get involved with your new community! We will be doing a variety of service projects around the Rogers Park and Edgewater neighborhoods. The first 200 participants receive a t-shirt and everyone receives lunch. Bring a water bottle and wear clothing that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes. Beforehand, grab breakfast at Simpson starting at 9 a.m.

Discover Your Chicago

Centennial Forum Student Union, Rambler Room

After picking up your U-pass, join Welcome Week leaders on excursions around Chicago to find YOUR Chicago. Each trip will feature a different theme including; Comedy, Music, Sports, Comic Books, Thrifting, Wellness, and the Essential Chicago Tourist. All events are free; however some shopping is available at some locations at your own expense.

Tours can only accommodate 30 students per trip so get there early. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes, we will be walking and taking public transportation. If you do not have your UPASS yet don’t worry. We will provide CTA Day Passes. Trip descriptions can be found below.

Discover Your Chicago “Comedy” – We will take you to various comedy venues around the Chicagoland area plus a surprise ending that is totally worth the price of your tuition.

Discover Your Chicago “Music” – We will take you backstage at one of Chicago’s legendary music venues and the rest of your time will be spent at the world famous Reckless Records for all you vinyl heads.

Discover Your Chicago “Sports” – Experience the game day atmosphere outside of Wrigley Field including the famous Harry Carey, Ron Santo, and Ernie Banks statues. Next we will stop by one of Chicago’s parks for a quick pick-up game of Ultimate Frisbee, and end with a tour of Loyola’s Athletic Facilities hosted by Loyola Student-Athletes.

Discover Your Chicago “Comic Books” – We will take you to a few Comic Book shops and then to the Roy Lichtenstein exhibit at the Art Institute of Chicago.

Discover Your Chicago “Thrifting” – You will spend the day between racks and racks of Chicago’s best thrift stores and second hand shops.

Discover Your Chicago “Wellness”Make sure to wear your Yoga clothes as we take you to a private Yoga lesson, followed up by a trip to a local health food store.

Discover Your Chicago “Essential Chicago Tourist” - We will be heading down to Millennium Park to check out the Bean, Crown Fountain, and topping it off with a trip all the way up to the Hancock Observation Deck.

Social Sorority & Fraternity Life Info Session
3 p.m. – 5 p.m.
Crown Center Auditorium  

Learn more about sorority and fraternity life at Loyola. Staff and current members will walk you through how to join the values-based Greek community. Light refreshments will be served following the Q&A.

Beyond the Buzz
6 p.m. – 7 p. m.
Rambler Room

Come to an interactive, myth busting presentation about alcohol!  Test your knowledge. Gauge your drink-pouring skills.  Let's talk about it.

Casino Night
9 p.m. – Midnight
Centenial Forum Student Union, Rambler Room

For fun and prizes, enjoy real casino table games and more! Prize drawings will happen throughout the night, with a grand prize drawing at the end, so you’ll definitely want to hang around!
