Additional Instructions for International Students Transferring to Loyola

If you are a student transferring from another country, please complete the steps listed above along with the following:

1. A transcript evaluation is required to complete your application if you are transferring from a non-U.S. university. Loyola will accept either a course by course evaluation or a catalogue match evaluation for the purpose of reviewing your application. If you do choose to enroll at Loyola, you will need to submit a catalogue match evaluation in order to receive credits for any courses taken abroad. Please send an official copy of your transcript to Educational Perspectives and have them sent to:

Loyola University Chicago
Undergraduate Admission Office
1032 W. Sheridan Road
Sullivan Center, Room 150
Chicago, IL 60660

2. If your native language is not English or if your primary language of instruction has not been English, you must provide proof of English proficiency. This can be submitted in the form of an official TOEFL or IELTS score. Loyola requires a minimum score of 61 on the TOEFL, or 5.0 on the IELTS. (For tests taken prior to 2006, the minimum score required is 550 on the written test or 213 on the computer-based test.) Exceptions will be made on an individual basis.

3. If you require a visa to study in the United States, please complete the Declaration and Certification of Finances form and submit it with proof of financial resources.

4. International transfer students are not required to submit an SAT or ACT score if they submit proof of English proficiency through one of the options listed above.

Note: Incoming students may be required to take placement exams in math, English, and/or writing. The results are used to place them in the courses appropriate to their level of preparation. In some cases this may include a non-credit ESL class or introductory math class. Students who do not meet the requirements for unconditional admission may be considered for the International Conditional Admission Program (ICAP).
