Virtual Private Network
The University Virtual Private Network (VPN) provides a remote link to Loyola University Chicago's network resources, including secure production systems.
One-time steps to prepare to connect to the VPN
After the one-time steps have been completed
Note: Once you have completed the one-time steps and are comfortable connecting to the VPN, you can simply open your browser and go to https://vpn.luc.edu to connect.
Mozilla Firefox Client Certificate Install:
1. Upon successful processing of the VPN access request, a confirmation email message from “Loyola VPN Administrator 8-6086 ” will arrive containing an auto-generated ‘private key’ password and a client certificate (clientcert.p12) file attachment.
Save Client Certificate file on desktop.
Launch Mozilla Firefox. Navigate to Preferences
Click on Advanced Tab. Click View Certificates.
Click Import from Your Certificates tab.
Locate your certificate file on desktop (if you saved it on desktop). Click Open.
Enter your certificate password (Find it in E-mail from VPN admin).
Click Ok.
Click Ok.
Enter https://vpn.luc.edu/ in the address bar. You will be redirected to login page. You will be prompted to choose your certificate.
Click Ok
Enter your UVID and Password.
After you are successfully logged in. Click on Remote Network Access (VPN). A Network Access window pops-up prompting you to install VPN plugin. Click Allow.
Instructions to use RDP lite
In windows 7 make sure you’re allowing Remote Control of the machine …right click Computer and select Properties.
Click on Remote settings and under the remote tab select the level of security.
If you don’t not allow Remote Desktop you’ll get a connection error when trying to connect.
Install and Setup RDP Lite
After it’s installed, configure the connection and do connect.
