About
In the summer of 2011, Alex Tuchman was hired as a Student Farm Intern for the founding of the Loyola Student Farm at the Loyola University Retreat and Ecology Campus. When Farm Manager Adam Schubel left for the Peace Corps in July, Alex was left in charge of the farm and was formally invited to join the IES staff as the "Farm Operations Assistant" in November 2011.
Alex grew up in Illinois and loves the Midwest--spending a fair amount of time in Wisconsin and Michigan. His parents met at some geeky science conference, and with two PhD's between them, Alex didn't have a fighting chance.
He has sought out a deep connection to the environment, and as a farmer, Alex takes on the work of mediating between humans and nature. "I assure you that both can be healthy and happy!"
Mr. Tuchman formally started farming in 2010 and in farming has found his niche.
