Corey Schroer, Summer Resident Assistant Hello! I am currently a freshman at The George Washington University, with the intent to major in economics and chemistry. After completing my undergraduate studies, I plan on going to law school; specializing in patent law. I am originally from Plymouth, Minnesota and participated in the Summer Scholars’ Six-Week Academy during the Summer of 2011. The opportunity to experience college life as a high school student and the many activities hosted by the program made for an outstanding experience. I am very excited to return to the program as a staff member and hope to use my experience to make the program as gratifying for current students as it was for me. Aside from academics, I am involved with many activities on and off campus; those include being a member of a GW chemistry professor’s research team, being on the events subcommittee for the Pre-Law Student Association and a member of Phi Alpha Delta, a professional pre-law fraternity. DJ Singh, Summer Resident Assistant I am currently a sophomore at SIUe, Southern Illinois University of Edwardsville. I was born in Fountain Valley, California but moved to Crystal Lake, IL before I began middle school. I am currently enrolled in a combined BA/DDS program at the university, which allows for me to complete my undergraduate in three years and move on to dental school for another four years. When I am not busy with my studies I can be found doing many things all over campus. If I am not in the gym practicing for the next intramural basketball game, I am most likely at a meeting for the chemistry club or pre-dental club. Off of campus I help out with organizations such as the Children’s Miracle Network of greater St. Louis and Red Cross. I am excited to be apart of the staff this year, as I was once a Summer Scholar myself and participated in the Six-week Academy -- (2010 Alumni). Being a Summer Scholar was a wonderful experience, as I became better prepared for college and had a realistic expectation of what to expect from college courses. I hope my experience in the program will help make the experience more enjoyable for current Summer Scholars. |
