Congratulations on your decision to consider studying abroad as part of your undergraduate education at Loyola! Study abroad provides the opportunity to explore a different part of the world and experience a new culture first hand, while earning Loyola credit. The following steps and tips should help you to get started with the process.
1) Attend a Study Abroad 101 Workshop
These sessions cover basic introductory study abroad information. They are offered twice a week throughout the semester on Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m.-5:00 p.m. in Sullivan 123. The workshop will help you gain an understanding about study abroad, including the factors involved in selecting a program, study abroad policies and requirements. They are mandatory for all students. The Study Abroad Manual will be covered in detail at the workshop.
2) Consider various factors when researching and choosing a study abroad program. Follow the guideline sheet on choosing a program.
3) Meet with your academic advisor to go over your degree audit. This will help you to get a sense of when is the best time to study abroad and the classes you might want to take overseas.
4) Meet with a study abroad advisor to talk about your programs of interests and any other questions or concerns. You can schedule an appointment or come in during walk-in advising hours. To find out more visit study abroad advising.
