Vice President Neufeld's Welcome
As the Vice President for the Division of Student Development, I am honored to lead over 200 professional and support staff who collectively and effectively create a transformative student experience utilizing Ignatian pedagogy.
I have enjoyed 24 years with Loyola, and this continues to be an exciting time to be a part of our Division. With 16 areas, we offer a broad range of opportunities to explore and enhance our student’s capabilities. Beyond the classroom, Loyola students engage our programs to build upon their Loyola Experience, some of which include leadership development, class retreats, athletics and intramurals, residence life, conflict resolution, diversity and multiculturalism, ministry and faith, and community service, to name several.
Further, we promote the Four Year Plan in our missions and programming. The Four Year Plan promotes structure and goals for students depending on their college career level. Indeed, this is evident through our Second Year Experience office or the mental and physical health resources we offer through our Wellness Center, Dining Services, and Campus Recreation departments. We constantly seek ways to support our student’s growth and development, especially by recognizing their unique challenges, journeys, and talents.
Beyond programs, Student Development has played a key part in the transformation of our campuses. The Damen Student Center recently celebrated its one year anniversary, and is a bustling hub of student organizations, study areas, conferences and meetings, and dining options, and also includes a cinema and rock-climbing wall. Several new residence halls have been acquired then rehabbed or newly built, expanding housing options and quality for students, including the new energy-efficient San Francisco Hall. This year, Loyola is proud to open the Halas Recreation Complex Addition, which includes additional exercise space and equipment, a renovated and larger swimming pool, state of the art Student Development offices, and increased study and social areas for students.
As before, our engaging campus life is only growing stronger with these enhancements, among others. Our goal as a Division - to offer one of the highest quality student experiences in the nation – continues. Our teams look forward to working with our campus partners to offer our students an integrated and transformative Jesuit education like no other.
Thank you for your support.
