Dr. Rasheed has a M.S.W. from the University of Michigan (Ann Arbor) and a Doctorate in Social Welfare from Columbia University (New York). She received multiyear research grant funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. She has had numerous journal articles and book chapters published on the subject(s) of policy, research and practice issues with African American men, the Black elderly, and clinical implications of historical trauma response in African Americans. She is the coauthor of two books, Social Work Practice with African American Men: the invisible presence (1999); and Family Therapy with Ethnic Minorities (2004); and is currently under contract with Sage Publications to write her 3rd book, a textbook on family therapy.
