Dr. Gilbert joined the School of Social Work faculty in 1999 following 17 years of experience as a pediatric social worker. She teaches courses in the Human Behavior and Social Environment in both the undergraduate and graduate programs. Dr. Gilbert also teaches clinical social work practice in health care, beginning and advanced-level group treatment, and brief therapy courses. Her areas of scholarship focus on health and mental health issues of children and adolescents, the impact of their illnesses on family systems, group therapy, and the role of spirituality and religion in clinical social work practice.
