Certificate of Advanced Study In Philanthropy
The Nonprofit Management & Philanthropy Sector program offers a Certificate of Advanced Study In Philanthropy intended for students and professionals interested in public service, philanthropy and community-building work, regardless of their fields of specialization. Students gain professional skills and expertise in nonprofit management, strategic planning, utilization of foundation resources, and grant making.
Internship requirements for School of Social Work students pursuing the Nonprofit Management and Certificate Program.
MSW students can complete the requirements for the Certificate Program by doing approximately 144 hours of activities related to resource development. Student will be exposed to the everyday operations of the organization as well as attend relevant forums and meetings in the broader philanthropic community related to resource development.
Activities can include:
- Engage in the grant making process.
- Complete a written project focused on a particular programmatic area of interest related to resource development.
- Research possible sources of funding.
- Participate in events, corporate giving campaigns and development of volunteer groups interested in raising funds for the organization.
