An alumnus of Berklee College of Music in Boston, Gutierrez has an extensive background in music performance and education. His first foray into partnerships with schools came through jazz and world music programming for Middle and High School students. Gutierrez has developed programs for entrepreneurship, arts integration, linked learning and contemporary music education. He has taught on popular American musics as a classroom teacher and adjunct faculty.
Gutierrez holds a BA in Performance from Berklee College of Music (’05), and an MBA from Loyola Marymount University (’14, expected). He is an alumnus of Education Pioneers, a competitive fellowship for leaders in urban education. His collaboration with the SoC is informed by his years as a music journalist covering multiple Spanish language genres for All Media Guide, and working with multiple non-profits on social media communications.
