Jim Collins II is the audio and visual production coordinator in the School of Communication. He joined the staff of the Department of Communication in 1988 as a production assistant and was promoted to his current position in 1991.
Collins' office is in SoC's Owl Lab where he helps students and faculty with video and audio projects as well as coordinating and managing the school's audio and video eqipment. At the start of each semester he give students in production courses an orientation on the SoC's equipment and check out procedures. He is also part of the production team for Loyola News Chicago in the convergence studio.

An alumnus of Loyola, he received his BA in communication in 1985, focusing on radio, television and film. While overseeing the audio and video equipment for department’s production courses Collins continues to pursue his own interest in filmmaking, working on several independent projects.
In 1991 he directed and edited a documentary short for the Chicago Association of Retarded Citizens, which won him the Helen Cody Baker Award for Social Service Communicators.
Collins and co-producer David Schmidt shot Invocation: Doppelganger in 1998 and the sequel Invocation: End Game in 1999; a 90-minute feature, Sword of Hearts and two horror films Grave Invitation and The Lovecraft Syndrome in 2005. The co-producers are currently working
on their next feature film House of Black Wings.
