Application instructions and materials can be found here.
Fees & Deposits
No application fee is required from students applying for a Fall or Spring semester or a full academic year; summer applicants must submit a $500 fee upon application.
Upon acceptance for Fall, Spring, or full-year, students are asked to submit a $500 deposit in order to secure their space at the Rome Center. For Loyola University Chicago students, $100 of this fee is a non-refundable study abroad processing fee; the balance is applied toward their Rome charges. For visiting students, the entire amount is applied toward their Rome charges. Students failing to submit the fee by the specified deadline for their offer of admission will forfeit their space.
Full-year students must submit a second $500 deposit prior to the Fall break in order to secure their space for the Spring semester in Rome.
Recently Transferred Students
Students who transferred from another college or university into Loyola University Chicago must remain in residence in Chicago for at least one semester of full-time enrollment prior to attending the campus in Rome.
Visiting Students
Admission to the Rome Center as a visiting student does not signify admission to Loyola University Chicago. It is expected that a visiting student will return to his or her home institution at the conclusion of the period of study abroad in Rome.
Enrollment
Students must submit an "Intent to Enroll" form and a $500 deposit to confirm their participation in order to be guaranteed a space at the Rome Center or allowed to register when the on-line system opens for the respective term.
Enrollment at the Rome Center during the academic year is restricted to full-time attendance of degree-seeking undergraduates. In order to obtain the full benefits of the program, all students are strongly encouraged to consider full-year enrollment.
Deadlines
Applications for admission to the John Felice Rome Center are processed in Chicago at Loyola's Office for International Programs. Applications are welcome as long as space is available. The Rome Center operates on a rolling admissions schedule. There is no absolute deadline for applications, but students should apply as early as they are eligible because the Rome Center fills quickly.
In addition, the process of preparing to go abroad requires a rather significant amount of time. A student who is a citizen of the United States must acquire a study visa (Schengen Visa) in order to remain in Italy for a semester or year, and a student may only apply for this visa between 90 and 30 days before he or she arrives in Italy to start the program. Obviously a student must be accepted and confirm the offer of acceptance before the visa application process can be begun. For this reason, we strongly recommend that students apply no later than October 1st for a Spring semester and no later than May 15th for a Fall term or academic year.
Application forms and supporting credentials may be handed in at the Sullivan Center for Student Services, OIP (Room 206). If mailed, all records, correspondence and deposits should be sent to:
