Anne Wingenter is a lecturer in History and Women’s Studies at Loyola University, John Felice Rome Center. Her research focuses on the experience and memory of Italian fascism as mediated by personal narratives and popular practices. Publications on this theme include “Voices of Sacrifice: Letters to Mussolini and Ordinary Writing Under Fascism” (2007); “Eternal City, Sawdust Caesar: Americans on Tour in Post-WWII Rome (1944-1960)” (2010); “Shades of Seduction: Gender and Satire in American Visions of Italy 1947-1948” (2010); and “VI SALUTO ROMANAMENTE! Self-narration and Performance in Children’s Letters to Mussolini.”(2012)
