JFRC Relays For Cancer!
LUC Sophomore Alex Larkin lead the Spring 2014 Class in promoting awareness for the international fight against cancer.
Each semester the JFRC plans a silent auction in which students and faculty auction off goods and services, such as an American breakfast or a trip to their favorite gelateria. When Alex heard about it, she immediately asked if the proceeds raised could go to Loyola Chicago's Relay For Life initiative. Through this event and with the collaboration of JFRC Student Activities Committee, the students, staff and faculty were able to raise 675 euro for the cause!!
Alex joined Colleges Against Cancer because she witnessed how her mother battled breast cancer and she knew she had to be a part of a group that was doing whatever it could in the fight against cancer. Cancer is not a disease that sleeps, or would stop spreading even though she was going abroad, so she decided she couldn't stop either. She wanted to continue to spread the word to continue fighting wherever she went, and encouraged the students and faculty of the JFRC to do so as well. Students took pictures in many different countries showing that no distance would stop them in the fight against cancer. Check out the video of JFRC’s Roma for Relay against cancer initiative.
Bravi ragazzi! Forza JFRC!!
