Frequently Asked Questions
Can I still apply for housing?
Yes! Housing applications are accepted year round once the room selection process has ended.
What types of rooms are available?
Currently there are all Junior/Senior room types available on the Lake Shore campus and Quad rooms available on the Water Tower Campus.
Is it still possible to get a waiver for the pre-payment?
Absolutely! To request a waiver of your $500 housing pre-payment please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org or 773-508-3300.
We understand $500 is a lot of money and we are here to help when needed.
I want to live with a specific roommate, is this is still a possibility?
Yes! On both campus we do still have spaces available to accommodate roommate groups from 2-4 people.
Can I live in a single room?
At this time all of our single rooms are reserved.
If you have a medical accommodation through the Services for Student with Disabilities Office we will do our best to accommodate your recommendation as space allows.
I'm studying abroad, can I sign a one semester contract?
Your contract is technically for the whole year but studying abroad, graduating, student teaching, externship, etc. are all reasons that you would be released from the spring portion of your contract without penalty and without the need to find a subletter.
I have a job and need to be here for breaks, can I do that as a junior/senior student?
All Junior/Senior residence halls are open during the entire academic year (fall/january/spring terms) at no additional cost to our residents,
all you have to do is register to let us know you will be here.
What is the guest policy?
As our Junior/Senior halls are dictated by city of Chicago laws to have desks and check in guests due to their size there is a guest check-in protocol in place for our three Junior/Senior Halls. However, guest passes are not required. You can find the full guest policy online in the University's Community Standards.
Is my apartment furnished?
Yes, our apartments do come furnished. You can find more information about each building and its' individual amenities, including 3D floor plan online at Living Options.
Will I have a kitchen in my room?
Yes, all Junior/Senior housing is apartment style and comes with a full kitchen in-unit.
Can I set up a monthly payment plan for my housing?
As housing and meal plans are billed along with tuition you can pay your bill monthy by setting up Installment Plans through the Office of the Bursar.
My classes are all on one campus, can you guarantee me a space on that campus?
As of April 16th, 2013 we are able to guarantee placement on your preferred campus. However, this may change as we get closer to the start of the 2013-2014 academic year so we encourage students to apply sooner rather than later. We will continue to update the answer to this question (and others) throughout the summer so that you have the most available information.
