Phil specializes in complex accounting and financial reporting matters in the financial services industry. Phil provides his clients with capital markets transaction support, complex accounting and reporting advice, and GAAP conversion advice. This advice typically relates to significant events including divestitures, debt and equity offerings, acquisitions, restatements and adoption of new accounting standards.
Prior to returning to Chicago in September of 2006, Phil spent two years in the Transaction Services practice in London, England where he was the lead manager on a number of large conversion and registration projects for some of Europe’s largest financial institutions. His primary experience was in advising insurance companies in their first time adoption of IFRS.
Prior to relocating to London and joining the Transaction Service practice, Phil spent the previous 5 years in Boston and Chicago, respectively, in the audit practice focusing in the financial services industry with a particular focus on real estate, broker dealers and hedge funds.
Phil teaches courses on accounting under US GAAP and IFRS and he is a licensed CPA in Illinois. Phil’s clients have included Prudential Plc, Aviva plc, Principal Financial Group, AmerUs Group Co, Northwestern Mutual, WellPoint, CIGNA, Orbitz and Travelport.
Phil graduated cum laude from Loyola University Chicago in 1999 with his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Phil received his Master of Business Administration in 2010 from the University of Manchester—Manchester Business School.
