Where We Came From

Renewable Energy at Loyola

The “Wind” project began when we realized that Loyola could potentially support wind energy. After deciding that being blown off our feet while walking across campus wasn’t sufficient evidence, we opted to do some research.

Fueled by curiosity, more than 30 students initially came together to work on this project. They climbed onto rooftops all over campus after receiving funding from The Green Initiative Fund to determine potential sites for wind vane and anemometer installations. During the last two years, the project experienced  a transition of student leadership, equipment setbacks, and diligent help from Facilities. REAL: Wind finally got its first installation on Santa Clara Hall.  We’re finally ready to do the hard work of finding the answers to the questions that started it all 3 years ago.
